Boca de Rua (Talk of the Street)
The Boca de Rua newspaper (in english, Talk of the Street) has been produced and sold by people who live in the streets of Porto Alegre City since 2000. Texts, photos and illustrations are elaborated by homeless people in weekly meetings. In groups, they discuss selected issues, organize and make interviews, take photographs and produce texts collectively by turning oral language into written text or by recording and then selecting the content. The work is supervised by journalists, psychologists and university students. Only the publication and web design are performed by communication professionals. The revenue collected from newspaper sales returns in full to the participants, representing an alternative source of income. The team consists of 30 adults and 15 children/adolescents. Minors under 18 years old participate in art/communication workshops and produce a child-juvenile insert called O Boquinha (Small Talk).

Remnants
The project Remnants – Tales without Fairies from Grandmothers of the 21st Century, is a historical journey back to the feminine universe of the first decades of the last century. In partnership with the group Renascer de Terceira Idade (Rebirth of the Elderly) from the city of Bagé (Rio Grande do Sul), organizers collected stories, recipes, blessings, spells, homemade medicinal formulas, music and vocabulary of women from 60 to 90 years old. Women participated throughout the entire conception of the project, including the name definition. After it is published in the form of a book-almanac, the work will be sold and 70% of its revenue will return to the Renascer group.
In addition to the book, the team in charge of collecting all the information also produced Jornal da Maturidade (Maturity Journal), a self-sustainable monthly periodical that is distributed for free.

News Agency
The proposal to give visibility to the excluded led to the creation of a news agency within Alice itself. The idea was inspired by the growing demand on behalf of publications from outside the state of Rio Grand do Sul for reporting focused on social issues. The agency’s mission is to inform readers about the reality of those who exist at the margin of mainstream media, such as homeless people and racial and sexual minorities, and other groups excluded from society. In addition to making journalistic work, the agency is also responsible for fundraising. Journalistic material (text and photos) can be produced either exclusively or not.
